Keyframes are a powerful and flexible tool that let you change properties, like opacity and volume, over time. Once you learn how to use them, your movies will never be the same again.

If you’ve never used keyframes before, follow this quick tutorial to learn the basics.

In Timeline Mode and with the Overlay track selected, click the Insert Text button, followed by Text  Clip.
Text button

A text track will appear under the Overlay track and a text box will appear in the middle of your video. Type in the text you want then move the text box to where you want it to appear first. We’ve put ours in the top-right corner.

Next, go to the Properties Pane and click on Transform then Show Keyframes.

You’ll also see the first keyframe on the new Transform track. It will be a red dot.

Click anywhere in the new Transform track to add a new keyframe, then drag it to the point in the timeline where you want the text to stop moving. In this example we put a second keyframe at 6 seconds.

With the new keyframe selected, move the text box to where you want the text to be at that point in the video. In this example we’ve moved it to the top left.

When you play the video back, the text box will move between the two keyframes. So, in our video, the text will slide from right to left over 6 seconds then stay there.

This technique can be used with any object, and you can add as many keyframes as you like so you can make objects move around the screen as much as you like.

Keyframes aren’t just for movement though. In MoviePlus, all adjustments and effects, like colour, motion blur, and brightness, are keyframeable. For example, you could have your text fade out then fade back in at a different place on the screen – just by using keyframes.
