How to use the Pinch tool in PhotoPlus X6 to lose weight!

There are a couple of fun and effective tools in PhotoPlus that you can use to make things, or even yourself, look better! We’ve all seen holiday snaps that made us wish we’d said ‘No thanks’ when those chocolates were doing the rounds in the office. Alas, too little too late means we are left with a few pictures that are less than flattering.

But, there’s a little trick you can use to shed a few excess pounds post-shoot…

The Pinch tool is great for subtly changing and area of a photo. As its name suggests, it squeezes the dimensions, shrinking whatever is underneath the cursor. Here’s an example of how you can use it to make photo subjects look better (without going over the top or making them look unnatural).

Step 1

Open your image in PhotoPlus X6, right click on the background layer, and click on Duplicate… to make a copy of the layer. Make sure you have the duplicated layer highlighted when you start working on your image.

Step 2

OK, so now you need to select the Pinch tool, which we’ll use to ‘move’ some of the pixels in the image to give it a slightly different finish. The Pinch tool is in the fly-out near the bottom of the tools on the left.

Step 3

Zoom into the area you want to change and adjust your brush size using the context toolbar. Then, click and hold the mouse button down as you slowly move the brush in the direction you want that part to go in. In this case, I want the cheeks to be reduced, so I’m moving the mouse to the right slightly as I click and hold.

Step 4

Move around the photo and ‘pinch in’ the areas you want to. Here’s the before and after for our photo. As you can see, the cheeks have been reduced as well as the arms:

By stretching the surrounding pixels into the space, you can create a near seamless change in your subject.
